Background
After his defeat at Goku's hands on Namek and being killed by Future Trunks on Earth, Freeza was resurrected by Sorbet and Tagoma using the Dragon Balls with the goal of restoring his earlier empire. Freeza immediatly turned to looking for revenge on the Saiyans, training for 4 months to increase his power and unlock a new form, before going to Earth to invade it. Having a rematch with Goku and Vegeta, Freeza seemingly achieved his goal when he destroyed Earth and killed his enemies' loved ones in the process, but Whis' temporal do-over allowed Goku to stop that from happening and killing the emperor once more. When Team Universe 7 was in need of a final member, Goku looked for Freeza, who decided to help out his arch-nemesis in order to save the universe.

Intelligence: Freeza is a cunning leader who mantained his intergalactic empire for decades with his millitaristic tactics, but he's also an extremely capable martial artist in his own right, easily matching masters such as Goku without having gotten training beforehand and easily replicating other's techniques.
Weaknesses: Freeza is extremely overconfident, sadistic and obssessed with revenge, all of which tend to cloud his judgment. His Golden Freeza form originally drained him very quickly, but became able to master the form before the Universe Survival Saga.
