You understimated Getter... don't understimate humanity, either!
~ Ryoma

Background

The original Getter Team are the main characters across the Getter Robo Saga.

In Getter Robo, the team consists of Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin and Musashi Tomoe, who were recruited for their extraordinary will and physical endurance by Dr. Saotome, working for the Saotome Institute to fight against the Dinosaur Empire using the Getter Robo.

In Getter Robo G, following Musashi's sacrifice, Benkei Kuruma became the new recruit at the Saotome Institute to fill as the third pilot of the Getter Robo G, so alongside Ryoma and Hayato, they fight against the demons of the Hyakki Empire.

In Shin Getter Robo, a year has passed since the battle with the Hyakki Empire, Hayato and Ryoma research the potential of the newly built Shin Getter Robo as unknown aliens invade Earth as visions of the Getter Emperor are revealed, while Benkei's use of the Getter Robo G pushes it to a new evolution.

In Getter Robo Go, the original Getter Team no longer exists, with Hayato creating a new Getter Team where he serves a similar role to Dr. Saotome and Ryoma leaving for his father's dojo, only reuniting one final time to fulfill the Shin Getter Robo's destiny. In Getter Robo Arc, only Hayato is left, guiding the next generation of Getter pilots against the Andromeda Country.
