“ Consider the world in which you were born, Mr. Boniface. You would call these monsters, I think. But they are no different that everything else in this world. Every creature in this world raises its head against a background of infinite carnage and smiles at the Sun and declares the world good. We are all monsters. Because the universe we live in is monstrous. But we are blind to it. We do not see the endless horror that underpins our lives. Because God is a sadist. The perversity of this reality is undeniable proof of both his existence and his malice. And it is our duty to become his superior. „


Background

Forcefully raised as a magician by his father, who knew of his latent power, Master Nicodemo Darque grew resentful of humanity and the world he lived in after being forced to kill him in defense of his sister. Believing God to be an unfair, cruel master, Darque seeks to kill him to render humanity free, and does not care how many lives he must destroy to lead to that result, which has caused him to fight Shadowman multiple times.

After being sealed away in the Ring of Solomon by Shadowman, Darque trained in forms of magic and his power grew dramatically. Over the course of the next few millennia, his power grew even more, to the point of becoming a primal force in the world, potentially even the cosmos. He became Magic, while Father became Technology - two opposing forces that both want dominance over the world and want to remake it without the other.

After being trapped within the Soulside, he had used it to his advantage to enhance his skills. Darque defeated and killed everyone in Lyceum[28], a universal center of magical knowledge[29] where[6] "all that is knowable is known"[1], razing its entire world to the ground[2], after learning all that there was there to learn in it in twenty years[2]. He has studied in every nation on Earth, and visited other dimensions, including Deadside and Lyceum to enhance his skills[6]. Mixes occult with magic and other fields to enhance his abilities[7].

As previous, likely enhanced due to accessing the information field of Earth and the Book of Geomancers, which allows him to look at the future and the past.

Weaknesses: Somewhat overconfident. General magic weakness, everything has a price. Magic can only be accessed when exchanging something in return[6]. Soulside weakens him[7].
