~ Mxyzptlk explaining his motivations to Jon Kent |
Summary
Mister Mxyzptlk (or originally Mister Mxyztplk) is a whimsical, reality bending imp from the 5th dimension and a frequent foe of Superman. Rarely malicious, Mxyzptlk spends his days waiting for opportunities to mess with his favorite Kryptonian, killing time with every alternate version of Superman to ease his boredom. Despite his childish and playful tendencies, he is a dangerous entity to ignore, as his god-like abilities allow him to bend space and time to his whim, making him a truly terrifying opponent if he feels like "playing supervillain".

Exists outside the "plot" and can interact with it.[100]), and Possibly Toon Force (Turned Superman into a[78] cartoon.[77] Peered into Bizzaro's mind.[74]),
All previous which has been enhanced greatly plus; Higher-Dimensional Existence (Is a Fifth[71] Dimensional being.[77] It is stated that his true form is incomprehensible to 3-Dimensional beings.[79] Fifth Dimension is a higher space-time.[86]), Large Size (Type 10; As big as the 11 Dimensional DC Multiverse), and Incorporeality (Fifth Dimensional and higher beings lacks true physical forms.[109]), Nigh-Omnipresence (In the Fifth Dimension)
Attack Potency: Unknown (He does not fight with destructive power, so we don't know how powerful he is. In addition, he is said to be from the Fifth Dimension, it is not the same as his modern incarnations. This version of the Fifth Dimension is a dimension above the main three dimensional universe, albeit it is unknown if it is infinitely superior. In addition, each universe in the multiverse has their own version of the Fifth Dimension. It is a higher dimension, albeit not transcendent.[7]). | Varies up to High Multiverse level (Flicked Krypto with his giant hand.[25] When sharing his power with Kull and a robot, the two were overwhelmingly more powerful than Superman and Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family.[32] Easily defeated other DC Heroes, such as Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. Defeated the Spectre. Destroyed the Fifth Dimension. Beat up Darkseid in his own dimension. Replaced Anti-Monitor and fought Pre-Crisis heroes. Destroyed the universe, then the entire multiverse, only to recreate it all with a snap of his fingers.[11]) | Varies up to at least High Multiverse level physically (Emperor Joker physically overpowered Superman.[80] Easily matched and overpowered enraged Rebirth Superman in a physical brawl.[75]), and up to Ascendent level with powers in the lower worlds (Stated to have infinite power.[88] Emperor Joker with his powers was able to warp the universe, hell and heaven, as well as the Sphere of Gods in his image and overpowered residents of the Sphere of Gods, such as Darkseid, High Father, Phantom Stranger, etc. And was able to overpower Hal-Spectre as well as Doctor Fate and Takion. He did all of this with extreme ease, and it was implied that he could do far more if he tried, but it seems like he wasn't interested.[80] Considered one of the most powerful beings in all of DC Comics.[72] Was going to unimagine the DC Multiverse out of existence.[110][111][112][113] See this for explanation), Ascendent level in the Fifth Dimension (Is a Fifth Dimensional entity[105] who sees a standard[70] universe as fiction.[87] Mxyzptlk is one of the most powerful beings from his dimension.[72] Fifth Dimensional beings transcends space and time, shape and form, length and width. Mxyzptlk casually created DC's Prime-Earth Universe.[4] A standard universe is spatially flat from the perspective of Imps.[114] Mister Mxyzptlk is the same as his other[70] variations which appeared in the main continuity.[75] Viewed Superman across the infinite realities on a gameboard.[76] Sees Superman and Batman's universe as nothing but fiction and can rewrite it with ease.[102] Fifth Dimension is everywhere in the multiverse below the Sixth Dimensions - which includes countless planes, such as the Sphere of Gods .[72] See this for explanation to understand Mister Mxyzptlk's rating)

Shown to be capable of flying interstellar distances in a short period of time.[29] Kull with a fraction of his power matched Captain Marvel family in speed,[32] who has travelled to Rock of Eternity through sheer speed. The Rock of Eternity is said to exist outside of time and space of normal universes and is the centre of the multiverse itself.) | Varies up to Immeasurable when holding back (Can keep up with early Post-Crisis Superman and Flash.[91] Emperor Joker was able to contend with Superman.[80] Can keep up with Barry Allen.[72] Exists beyond time and space, beyond length and width.[4] 5D Imps can freely move through time and Hypertime.[115] Perceives all past, present and future across all universes simultaneously.[72] The Multispear struck different places and times as a side effect.[116]. Vyndktvx - a 5D Imp - latched onto actual times in his assault.[117]. Mxyzptlk juggled matter and time and Imps disturb time when they fight[116]), Irrelevant when he is not holding back, Irrelevant in the Fifth Dimension
Lifting Strength: Unknown, at least Class K with Telekinesis (Easily lifted a house.[5]) | At least Class 1 physically (Lifted a barrel full of syrup.[61]), Infinite with Telekinesis (Restrained Green Lantern,[11] who is comparable to Superman) | Immeasurable when holding back (Casually held a universe in his hat.[4] Vyndktvx - a 5D Imp, who should be weaker than Mxy - latched onto actual times in his assault and held it in his hands.[117]), Irrelevant when he is not holding back in the lower words, Irrelevant in the Fifth Dimension
Durability: Unknown | High Multiverse level (Krypto's attacks did zero damage against his large hand.[25] Kull and a robot with a fraction of his power were unaffected by Superman and Captain Marvel's combined attacks.[32] Tanked an attack from Darkseid in his own dimension. Tanked the entire might of Pre-Crisis heroes.[11]) | Up to at least High Multiverse level physically (Emperor Joker was easily able to tank Superman's attack.[80] Tanked a blast from Linda Danvers.[96]), up to Ascendent level with powers in the lower worlds (Fought Bat-Mite on equal grounds[111][112][113]), Ascendent level in the Fifth Dimension

Standard Equipment: None notable | Dimensional viewer. A piece of equipment that allows[56] him to watch practically[54] anyone in the Third Dimension[49] from the Fifth Dimension.[50] His hat. If worn by others, they gain his powers.[50] However, only if he wills it. | His hat. If worn by others, they gain his powers.[100] However, only if he wills it.
Intelligence: Above average. Mister Mxyzptlk has some decent magical knowledge from his dimension,[16] however, he is very gullible and very easy to manipulate and trick. | Same as before. | Nigh-Omniscient. Mxyzptlk exists as a single entity across all universes,[75] perceiving all[76] of time and space[105] simultaneously.[72] As the Mxy Twins, he wrote the Encyclopedia Universal, a book containing virtually all information on everything in existence.[94]
Weaknesses: Saying his name backwards forcefully shuns him back to his original dimension. He cannot return within 90 days.[21] In addition, as a wish maker, he always likes to play by the rules. Lois Lane forced him to turn himself 3-Dimensional and seal himself within a concrete and lost his powers.[10] He is rather gulible and has a bit of ego, which often leads to him being outwitted by Superman and his cast.[6][18] | Same as before. In addition, he has been outsmarted by even Krypto.[54] Whatever he does in the lower worlds often wears off[32] once he leaves for his own dimension.[24] Even if a recording of his name backward is played, he gets sent to his own dimension.[53] It is likely, his voice is the key to his powers.[69] | He lacks the former weaknesses it seems. Saying his name backwards doesn't shuns him to the Fifth Dimension and returning to his home dimension doesn't revert the changes he made here, he does it by himself.[78] However, he likes to play games. So, if he loses - any game - he will return to his dimension willingly[78] and stay there for a period of time.[77] He never lies and always keeps his word.[77] However, the lying part was rectified later on after he learned from his mistakes.[73] Negative Space nulls his powers.[75]
Notes:
- Dale and Dolores - the Mxy twins - were Mister Mxyzptlk himself after he split himself in half.[99]
- Scaling rules:
- Please be very careful when scaling anyone from Mister Mxyzptlk as his powers varies greatly. Reading the greater context of said feats will give you a better understanding of his power level at that moment. If possible, try to scale characters from others instead of Mister Mxyzptlk.
- Other characters can only scale to Mxyzptlk's 1-A tier if they fight him in a prolonged battle, defeat him continuously or if they are considered equals via feats and statements.
- If there is a possible scaling, they should be scaled to the feats shown in that comic rather than Mxy's 1-A. So we need to evaluate it closely because Mxy can control his power output.
Explanations
- While the versions of Mister Mxyzptlk are essentially the same, there are some distinct differences between them. Especially between the modern and the original version. While there might be slight differences, he is overall the same person, and powers and abilities of his are the same across his incarnations.
- Reason for his varied tier: Mister Mxyzptlk can control the output of his power levels. He always matches Superman, no matter how weak or strong he is in that story.
- The original Mister Mxyzptlk was rather inconsistent with his dimensions. At first, he was a Sixth Dimension being, but as his story progressed, they changed it to Fifth Dimension.
- World Funnest is canon to Pre-Crisis Mxyzptlk and its cosmology. As such, the destruction of higher dimensions as well as fractured dimensions does not grant anything above 2-A. Numbered higher dimensions back then were simply higher dimensions and not infinitely superior dimensions.
- The Fifth Dimension being a space-time in the modern times should be disregarded. Initially, it was meant to be a higher space-time, but as time went on and they developed the cosmology, it was changed to something different.
