About
Phazon, as coined by the Space Pirates (formerly referred to as the "Great Poison" by the Chozo), is a highly radioactive substance originating from the planet Phaaze, known for its extreme mutagenic and energy-producing properties. Though at first glance it seems to be only a mineral substance, it is more of a superorganism, capable of interstellar propagation accomplished by the assimilation and destruction of its host planet's ecosystem.
Phazon releases unique energy in the form of Phazon radiation. Exposure to any amount of Phazon radiation can be deadly. Most bioforms in direct contact with Phazon, be it ore or liquid, die within seconds. Even living within an area with high Phazon concentration can be fatal. However, bioforms who suffers Phazon exposure that do not die are horribly mutated. Exposure to Phazon radiation destroys brain cells and cognitive thought in sentient beings, yet it also sees a gain of muscle mass and other beneficial abilities.
Abilities
- Radiation Manipulation (Phazon is a highly radioactive substance that can kill those in its vicinity or upon contact)
- Corruption & Life Manipulation (Phazon corrupts the very life force of the user, essentially making it into Phazon as well. The corruption is so fast that it can quickly take over entire planets)
- Mind Manipulation (Beings affected by the phazon fever will have their minds corrupted. Under natural circumstances, it will cause the infected to become defensive of Phazon and sources of it, becoming aggressive and violent to even allies. Dark Samus, a being made of phazon, instantly brainwashed an entire spaceship with her mere presence upon reconstructing her phazon body)
- Non-Physical Interaction & Soul Manipulation (Phazon also corrupts ghosts and the very soul of the entity, even if that soul is in a higher plane or dead)
- Biological Manipulation (Phazon can produce severe mutations in a target's body. Additionally, it can cause loss of equilibrium, erratic respiration, muscle spasms, and hallucinations)
- Madness Manipulation (Types 1 & 2. Phazon exposure is capable of causing mental breakdowns to the point of inducing dementia and pure madness)
- Technology Manipulation & Data Manipulation (Phazon is capable of corrupting machines, A.Is and even entire networks)
- Portal Creation & Dimensional Travel (Phazon in "close proximity" to pocket universes or conflicting space can create portals between them. Can also create wormholes on a galactic scale)
- Intangibility (Some corrupted beings are capable of phasing out of local timespace)
- Forcefield Creation (Phazon can be manipulated into making Phazite, a solid form of the substance. Weaker variations pose enough durability to take hits from planetary threats, whereas stronger variations can tank hits from star busters)
- Statistics Amplification (Can be used to increase a being's strength, mobility and offensive capability through the mutation of phazon)
- Resistance Negation (Red Phazon is capable of affecting and killing Phazon Suit Samus in mere seconds, who could previously resist massive amounts of conventional phazon exposure)
- Reality Warping, Spatial Manipulation & Creation (Extreme large amounts of phazon contained in a Leviathan seed were capable of causing spatial disturbances and a transdimensional flux upon impact, creating another parallel dimension with new unseen lifeforms)
- Dimensional Manipulation (Type 2; The phazon corruption caused by the Leviathan from Tallon IV was strong enough to affect the Tallon Chozo who had ascended beyond space and time and the cosmos, perceiving the latter as just an illusion)
- Resistance to Precognition (The Chozo could not predict the Leviathan's fall into Tallon IV, despite their precognitive abilities, and became blind after trying to peer into its future)
