“ | Alyssa told me music's at the heart of the voodoo ritual. Max is a natural. At first, the notes come in a jumbled cascade. Freeform, syncopated, no clear rhythm or structure... But amid the chaos, hidden melody. A familiar chord here, a repeated phrase there... And the Loa responds. Settling inside of me. Inside of us. It finds... not order in the chaos, but freedom. Purpose. There's something here. Something I need to understand. Like a half-remembered dream, just out of reach... and just as I'm about to grasp it-- the music stops. | „ |
“ | There is something within people that cannot be destroyed. Echoes of who they were -- and never-ending hunger. These ghosts are what remain when you strip people down to that which you can't destroy. When all that is left is the urge to gorge, to be filled again. I know this, because the Loa knows this. Because it understands -- I understand -- there are things even the dead fear. | „ |
“ | So long you have resisted me, Jack...but at last you have learned...together we are stronger unbound! | „ |
Background
Before Jack Boniface was born, his father was killed by Master Darque, and years after he was born, his mother committed suicide, leaving him all alone in this world. But despite that, it did not bother him a lot. It was life, and he was just living it, letting the days pass by. One day, however, all of that changed when the Shadow Loa bonded with Jack, turning him into the Shadowman. For many generations, the men of the Boniface family has been hosting this otherworldly Loa. They have been using its power to keep Deadside monsters and Master Darque away, but too many of them fell to their death in front of that monster. And now, it is Jack's turn.
After finally defeating Master Darque and saving himself and the world, Jack came face-to-face with a new form of enemies, both from the Deadside and the living side, and he had no choice but to protect the innocent from the dark and evil monsters that dwell in the shadows.

- Shadowman's Scythe: a powerful ancient tool which can channel the powers of the Shadow Loa. It is capable of releasing bursts of energy, destroying souls, and interacting with incorporeal entities. The Scythe is just a tool to help Jack channel the power of the Shadowman in a controllable manner.[61][66] Can manifest his scythe from the darkness. Can control it's shape and size.[48] Can control his weapon telekinetically[15]. Can split his weapon into many small projectiles[67].
Optional Equipment:
- The Ring of Solomon: a powerful magical artefact which contains an entire pocket dimension within it.[55] Jack used the ring to seal Sandria Darque inside it.[29] It can also seal souls within it.[29]
Intelligence: He's a skilled carpenter and has had many jobs, but his intelligence overall is nothing special. However, after becoming the Shadowman, he got access to a great degree of magical knowledge, as well as some combat knowledge. | Same as before. | Same as before. | Unknown. The Loa has been around since the dawn of this world and was one of the most important Loas, however, it rarely ever shows its intelligence, so it's hard to determine how smart it is. In addition, it doesn't seem to aid Jack in battle either.
Standard Tactics:
- Hold back: tend to hold back his strength not to cause great amounts of harm to his weaker opponents.[10] However, this only applies to non-demonic and non-Deadside entities.
- Hax over fists: The Loa grant him a great deal of hax, so Jack is likely to use those - especially soul manipulation and dimensional travel - rather than fight his enemies physically.
Weaknesses: Normal human weaknesses. Has anger issues[9] and outbursts, however, he managed to fix that as time went on. The Screaming Whip - a special whip that hurts any child of African descent.[11] | Shadow Loa users are generally weaker in sunlight.[17] Without the Scythe, Jack's control over the Shadowman's powers wavers. However, it doesn't decrease in power. The Scythe merely helps him control the powers of this powerful spirit. | Same as before | In the beginning, it was shown as if it could not function well without a host, however, later down the line, he is shown to be able to function perfectly fine without a host, such as fighting other Loas and even protecting Jack from a space-time rift.[15] Has an incredible low intelligence. The Screaming Whip tends to weaken him.[11][12]
Note: As Magpie, he was in constant pain - physically.[4][5], mentally[6] and spiritually. As such, his base stats upscales heavily from this state.
