They are Spiritual entities that reside in the Soul Society, beings completely made of Reishi, who have honed their exceptionally high Spiritual power in order to fulfil their duty as enforcers of the Soul Cycle, purging Hollows that plague the human world and ensuring the safe passage of Souls that have lost their way, in order to maintain the balance between the ever turbulent Realms.
