Background
The Torment are a transcendent race of cosmic beings, perhaps cosmic Gods, who travel through the stars and galaxies in search of knowledge. In their path, they will destroy anything and everything to achieve their goals, even if it means destroying entire civilisations. On the surface, they are seen as evil Gods, but deep down, they are troubled beings who just wants to cease existing, ending their entire existence. But before they do that, they want to pass their knowledge onto someone worthy. And at last, they finally found Aric and Shanhara, the X-O Manowar. Once they passed their knowledge, these cosmic gods killed themselves, ceasing to exist.
